Henry Fischer
Henry Fischer has nearly 25 years of experience working for consumer-owned electric power supply and distribution utilities in Iowa and Minnesota. Prior to his association with The Prime Group, Henry served as Business and Community Development Manager at East Central Energy -- Minnesota’s oldest and third largest electric distribution cooperative -- with responsibilities for key accounts, economic development, governmental affairs and community relations. He has a wealth of experience managing key account programs, electric marketing and conservation improvement programs, developing and promoting industrial parks, while enhancing utility relationships with commercial and industrial customers and assisting customers with developing distributed generation and renewable energy projects.
Previously, Henry managed and directed public information and public relations programs for Central Iowa Power Cooperative ( Iowa ’s largest generation and transmission cooperative) and Cooperative Power ( Minnesota ’s largest G&T, now part of Great River Energy) where he developed communications relative to power plant and transmission construction and power supply issues.
He is the author of “They Said It Couldn’t Be Done!” – a history of the Missouri Basin Municipal Power Agency (now Missouri River Energy Services), a joint action agency providing wholesale power to some 58 municipal utilities in four Midwestern states.
His accomplishments include chairing the Mid-Continent Area Power Pool (MAPP) Area Relations Committee with responsibilities for regional electric reliability and power supply communication throughout the Upper Midwest . He has a broad experience developing franchise agreements, contracts, rates and pricing, strategic planning, and utility demand-side management programs, as well.
Henry earned a B.S. degree in Journalism Education from Mankato State University (now Minnesota State University at Mankato ) and has taken post-graduate level courses in issues management and public relations at Northwestern University and Drake University . He is a native of Chicago and lives on a lake near Pine City , Minnesota .
